Today was another typical day at church (except for the snow and ice that was on the ground) filled with the same crowd as last week. The service flowed very similar to other Sunday's and as people filled the seats there seemed to be nothing new in the attitude's and actions of those filling them. As a student pastor I am becoming more aware than ever that students and adults alike have become and are becoming too comfortable. Its an easy place to find oneself. I know I've been stuck in this category. We all have routines and schedules that move us from one mundane thing to the next but my heart is longing to see so much more. By comfortable I mean we stay the same. We don't take risks. We never dig deeper into the truths that we were taught as children. Comfortable is our way of being good and settling rather than doing anything great with our lives.

What would it look like if people went from being complacent Christians to passionate individuals pursuing a passionate God? Would we make the mundane normal stop at church mean more? Would we erupt with joy when we see a man from a Hindu background step out and be baptized? Would tears fill our eyes when we watch this happen and then think about our own life changing decision?

My desire is to find ways for students and adults to break free from the chains of comfortable and turning to a life filled with depth and greatness. I'm already praying for next Sunday and the seats that will be filled with great and squirmy people!
